Why this is the best answer
The useful clue is that the same server is reachable by IP address. That makes a general connection failure less likely and points toward name resolution. Check the DNS servers configured on the affected client and compare a lookup with a working device. The scenario supports a starting point for troubleshooting; it does not prove which DNS component is broken.
Why the other options fit less well
A bad physical connection or gateway would usually affect IP connectivity too. Changing those settings first ignores the successful connection already described.
